The Saudi capital, Riyadh, is preparing to host the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) from November 23 to 27, 2025, with the participation of high-level representatives from member states and international and regional organizations, along with a select group of experts and stakeholders in sustainable industrial development.
This conference is considered one of the most prominent international forums organized by UNIDO every two years, as it serves as a main platform for discussing global industrial development issues, reviewing countries’ efforts in enhancing innovation, achieving sustainability, and supporting international partnerships to build a balanced and inclusive global economy.
In this context, an integrated project on food security was submitted to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, initiated by Dr. Faisal Al-Mutairi as President of the Diplomatic Union and President of the International Congress Organization. The technical aspects and necessary practical approvals of the project are scheduled to be completed in the coming period, with the possibility of officially presenting it for discussion on the conference agenda if finalized before the sessions convene.
This project comes within the framework of efforts to enhance global food security, as it is one of the vital pillars of sustainable development, directly linked to the future of economic and social stability of nations, especially in light of the growing challenges related to natural resources and supply chains.
Hosting this global conference confirms the international community’s confidence in the Kingdom’s organizational capabilities and its pivotal role in supporting sustainable solutions, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at diversifying the economy, increasing the contribution of the industrial sector, and strengthening its international partnerships in economic and developmental fields.
The conference is expected to result in a set of decisions and recommendations that will enhance cooperation among member states and open new horizons for qualitative projects, such as the food security initiative, contributing to building a more inclusive and sustainable future for the global economy.
